The Best Craft Beer in New Mexico – Part 2

Continuing our trip across New Mexico to try and find the best beer and craft breweries we will travel extensively around this great state of America. Already we have sampled the beers from the Sante Fe Brewing Company, the Sierra Blanca Brewery, and the Blue Heron Brewery and now we set off to Farmington.

Three Rivers Brewery

This great craft brewery not only produces excellent ales and beers, but it is renowned also for its excellent food. There are daily and weekly specials on the menu all created from local seasonal produce. As well as the excellent craft beers, the Three Rivers Brewery in Farmington also has a great selection of wines and serve up some amazing cocktails. Many visitors opt for the tasting paddle and a gourmet pizza!

Roosevelt Brewing Company

The Roosevelt Brewing Company offers the best of both worlds, not only is it a fantastic craft brewery but it is also a great popular pub. The brewery makes lagers, and ales and is famous for its wood-fired pizzas and cuisine. If you visit then you must try the Softly Spoken Stout, and the Clovis Point IPA. There is even a daily happy hour where all beers have $1 discount.

Kaktus Brewery

Our next stop on our alcoholic journey is Bernalillo, and the Kaktus Brewing Company. If you love craft beer you must head straight to this award winning brewery as it produces some of the very best beer in the whole of New Mexico.

The key to the quality of the beer is that the brewery is a small nano-brewery and only makes small batches of its brews. They also only use quality ingredients to produce their beers and ales, so the end product is something to very much savor.

Spotted Dog Brewery

Many dog lovers frequent this great brewery as it is totally dog friendly, the name is a bit of a giveaway! The brewery was actually named after the family pet and it is the only brewery in Mesilla. House favorite beers include, Milk Stout, Hefeweizen, and Cream Ale.

Turtle Mountain Brewing Company

Turtle Mountain Brewing Company first opened its doors in Rio Rancho in 1999. And since then has been selling its award winning beers along with freshly made pizzas, and grinders. There are plenty of places both inside and outside to sit, and it is common to find live entertainment to keep you amused as you sample the great beers.

Milton’s Brewing

Our final stop is in Carlsbad, and this lively brewery tends to attract a young energetic crowd. The choice of beers is amazing and the atmosphere is one big party. On site you will regularly find live music, and many food trucks frequent the brewery site selling the best local food, ideal when you get the beer munchies.

The advice to newcomers is try the sample beer flight, you can have a taste of all the different beers brewed on site and decide which one you like best. Our exhaustive beer trip across New Mexico ends in Carlsbad and Milton’s Brewing certainly does not let the state down.
